Transforming its Fifth Floor Restaurant with beach huts and an illuminated pier catwalk, Harvey Nichols S/S’12 fashion show brought the Great British summer to London early this year. Complete with quirky goody buckets, Mulberry sticks of rock and a canapé menu of classic seaside fare, it was easy to see why ‘we do like to be beside the seaside’, especially when the Harvey Nichols Brut NV Champagne is flowing. Guests were treated to an array of beautiful floral prints and neon accents from the likes of Erdem, Rodarte and Mary Katrantzou.

Nespresso Launch

The new Nespresso boutique opened in style at The Trafford Centre, as multi-award winning chef Andrew Nutter designed a menu of savoury and sweet dishes and paired them with Nespresso’s Grand Cru coffee. Andrew remarked on the night “Coffee has the same range of individual notes and aromas as wine, so why not pair it with food? These recipes are easy to make at home but provide coffee lovers like me with a fun way to experience all the coffees available”.

Coco Boutique for The Marina Dalglish Appeal

Over 130 fashion lovers came to the launch of Coco Boutique’s Spring/Summer range at The Vincent Hotel, Southport. The designers represented consisted of Matthew Williamson, Temperley London, Moschino and Halston Heritage amongst many others. Marina Dalglish said, “I would like to thank Coco Boutique for their continued support to the appeal, and also the wonderful generosity from all our supporters who have helped us to reach all our targets so far, we are looking forward to the Southport
Unit opening”.

Carluccio’s Liverpool Opening

The great and good of Liverpool were out in force to celebrate the opening of Carluccio’s caffè in the city’s MetQuarter. Celebrity chef, Antonio Carluccio, was there to greet guests that included Atomic Kitten’s Liz McLarnon, and Jude Cisse who joined the Lord Mayor Frank Prendergast to toast the Italian restaurant, caffè and food shop. Prosecco was flowing all night and the guests were treated to canapés of Parma ham-wrapped king prawns, arancini and Serrano ham before being served the restaurant’s signature dish of risotto di fungi. Live Italian music was provided by an accordionist to complete the evening’s festivities.

Spring into Style

Hill Dickinson’s trainee solicitors organised Spring into Style, a charity fashion show at Metquarter in aid of the Fairbridge Project, part of The Princes Trust. The event was a huge success hosted by Gemma Merna and Herbert Howe with performances from X Factor’s 2 Shoes and Chelcee Grimes. Cocktails were provided by Kingdom and incredible canapés by Bellini Italian Restaurant while Partners from Hill Dickinson took their turn on the catwalk causing quite a stir.

Cesar Awards

Black-and-white silent movie, The Artist, scooped up six Cesar awards including best film and best actress in France’s annual version of the Academy Awards. The masterpiece won best director for Michel Hazanavicius and best actress for Berenice Bejo, who plays a young actress starting out as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by “talkies”.

MAC Viva Glam Charity Event

Fresh from shocking the world’s Catholics at the Grammy’s, Nicki Minaj toned it down a notch for the launch party of her latest collaboration: a lipstick and lip balm with Ricky Martin and MAC Viva Glam. The lipstick, a bright neon coral fitting in with Nicki’s aesthetic, is part of MAC’s charity line, and all proceeds will go to the MAC AIDS Fund.

Montegrappa Fashion Show

Italian pen giants, Montegrappa, hosted what was an amazing fashion show from the unique venue of London’s Tower Bridge. Among the featured designers on show, were Avtandil, with a collection inspired by Leni Riefenstahl’s film, Africa. Ms Couture’s collection from Australia featured a colour palette of refreshing sorbet tones including lemon, mint, pink and lilac, the fabrics chosen to embody the colours’ delicacy. Other designers hailed from Dubai, France, Russia, the Netherlands, Viet Nam, Greece, the USA and – of course – Great Britain, inspired by an array of cultural events.

Peckforton Castle Re-launch

Over 300 VIP’s turned out for the fantastic re-launch of Peckforton Castle to celebrate the restoration of the castle following a fire in 2010. With event production by Julie Perry Events the castle was brought back to life and illuminated in all its grandeur for the glitzy event which saw outstanding intimate performances from Emeli Sandé and Lemar.

Claire’s Carnaval Charity Fundraiser

In what was a truly Brazilian affair, Liverpool restaurant Viva Brazil, raised £2,200 for Claire House at their charity carnival. Guests were treated to the authentic tastes of traditional Brazilian food and an endless supply of cocktails before BBC Radio Merseyside host, Pete Price presented the raffle, which included fantastic prizes donated by local businesses. Claire House, Bebington, Wirral, provides care for babies, children and young adults as well as offering long term support to families dealing with bereavement.
