Cesar AwardsBlack-and-white silent movie, The Artist, scooped up six Cesar awards including best film and best actress in France’s annual version of the Academy Awards. The masterpiece won best director for Michel Hazanavicius and best actress for Berenice Bejo, who plays a young actress starting out as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by “talkies”. MAC Viva Glam Charity EventFresh from shocking the world’s Catholics at the Grammy’s, Nicki Minaj toned it down a notch for the launch party of her latest collaboration: a lipstick and lip balm with Ricky Martin and MAC Viva Glam. Montegrappa Fashion ShowItalian pen giants, Montegrappa, hosted what was an amazing fashion show from the unique venue of London’s Tower Bridge. Among the featured designers on show, were Avtandil, with a collection inspired by Leni Riefenstahl’s film, Africa. Ms Couture’s collection from Australia featured a colour palette of refreshing sorbet tones including lemon, mint, pink and lilac, the fabrics chosen to embody the colours’ delicacy. Other designers hailed from Dubai, France, Russia, the Netherlands, Viet Nam, Greece, the USA and – of course – Great Britain, inspired by an array of cultural events. With event production by Julie Perry Events the castle was brought back to life and illuminated in all its grandeur for the glitzy event which saw outstanding intimate performances from Emeli Sandé and Lemar. Claire’s Carnaval Charity FundraiserIn what was a truly Brazilian affair, Liverpool restaurant Viva Brazil, raised £2,200 for Claire House at their charity carnival. Guests were treated to the authentic tastes of traditional Brazilian food and an endless supply of cocktails before BBC Radio Merseyside host, Pete Price presented the raffle, which included fantastic prizes donated by local businesses. Claire House, Bebington, Wirral, provides care for babies, children and young adults as well as offering long term support to families dealing with bereavement. |
